Pyramid Model Content Transition

Overview

The Center on the Social Emotional Foundation for Early Learning (CSEFEL) released the original Pyramid Infant/Toddler and Preschool Training Models in 2001. In 2008, Colorado developed the Pyramid Plus Approach (PPA), a 45-hour training that combined national Pyramid Model content with SpecialQuest, a relationship-based approach focused on enhancing inclusion services. The PPA was updated in 2013. 

In 2023, the national organization, now known as the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations (NCPMI), updated the national training content. Faced with the decision of whether to update the PPA or adopt the national content, Healthy Child Care Colorado established a Transition Team and facilitated hours of stakeholder engagement that resulted in the decision to retire the PPA in favor of the new Colorado Pyramid Model Training of Special Recognition. Scheduled to launch August 1, 2024, this 50-hour series-based training combines the newly released national content with Colorado-specific “bookends”, that when delivered by a certified Pyramid Facilitator, count as a Training of Special Recognition in the Professional Development Information System (PDIS).
