The Early Learning Center at St. John’s was started in 1986 as community outreach. The school and church wanted to provide a safe place to love and nurture young children of families in the area. Since those early years, the ELC has grown with a reputation of providing a safe and loving environment, as well as a quality early learning childhood experience.

In 2001, St. John’s completed a $2 million dollar expansion project to provide five new classrooms for the ELC and a large community room and altar renovations for the church. The continuing school vision is to provide a Christ-centered educational experience, serving children from toddler through grade 8.

We believe that young children learn best from active, hands-on facilitated experiences in a nurturing Christian learning environment that includes small groups, individual attention, as well as large group instruction for children 18 months through 5 years of age. Quality early childhood teachers develop and coordinate the flexible and creative curriculum to respond to the multifaceted challenges faced by today’s children and families.

 

We are seeking a part-time Afternoon Lead, who will be responsible for leading afternoon activities with combined age groups, at the end of the day, and closing the center, Monday-Friday.

  • Applicants must be 21+ years of age, with current Early Childhood Teacher Credentials.
  • This candidate will be expected to work 20-28 hours per week, until 5:30pm each day. The option for full-time hours is available.
  • Pay starts at $22 per hour, and can increase based on education and experience.
  • A familiarity with Teaching Strategies Gold and Creative Curriculum is preferred.
