Salary: $1200-$1800/week (Negotiable based on experience)

Dates: May 27th – August 5th, 2025

Location: Approximately an hour west of Denver, 10 miles from Idaho Springs

Qualifications:

  • Background in medical care of children and teens
  • Background and experience in camping and/or related fields
  • Current RN/LPN/PA Certification
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • Organized with an ability to create and maintain systems
  • Desire and ability to work with children and young adults in a camp setting
  • Desire to work on a team of professionals providing holistic care to children and staff
  • Ability to communicate with, relate to, and serve as an example to all campers and staff
  • Willingness and ability to take full responsibility for safety and security of campers
  • Ability to accept guidance, constructive feedback, and support
  • Able and willing to work with a variety of staff members in a calm, collected manner at all times

Pre/Post-Camp Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate purchasing of medical supplies for the Infirmary as needed
  • Evaluate the medical forms and medication forms of all campers and staff and enter the appropriate information into the camp’s medical management software system; follow-up with families if questions or additional information is needed
  • Vaccinations: Review and ensure vaccine compliance as set forth by the State and Institution Standards
  • Submit a report at the end of the season covering inventory, recommended changes/equipment, and personnel recommendations
  • Set up EHR and EMAR systems for accurate and up-to-date reporting

Ongoing Summer Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary Infirmary liaison to Camp Director and Assistant Director
  • Interface with all appropriate camp staff regarding special medical and psycho-social needs of campers and staff, and contact and consult with parents when needed.
  • Learn the CampMinder medical system
  • Document all medical-related interactions: administration and treatment in the CampMinder EHR (EMAR) system
  • Continue to develop a standard of operation for all aspects of the Infirmary in compliance with Colorado Child Care Licensing and CDPHE Rules and Regulations
  • Colorado State Standards: Review and maintain Health Center Residential Child Care licensing Standards.  Work in conjunction with state regulators to ensure all safety and procedural standards are met.
  • Emergency Response: Training and delegating to camp staff for emergency preparedness and emergency medications.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and care of Health Center space – includes pre and post camp inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment
  • Medication  Administration:  Ensure that procedures are in place for the safe delivery of all prescription and over -the-counter medications, per standing orders. This includes administration , documentation, storage, proper disposal, and follow up/evaluation.
  • Delegate medication administration responsibilities in compliance with the CDEC
  • Medication intake and entry
  • For each medication ordered for a camper during the camp session, submit receipt to Camp Director, and enter medication information into EHR system
  • Maintain Ongoing Inventory Log
  • Log all camper and staff visits and parent communications in CampMinder and paper forms if and when there is no internet access.
  • Liaison to Camp Doctor
  • Maintain Illness Log per CDPHE
  • Track communicable diseases in line with the CDPHE
  • Prepare hand-offs to relief nurses and MDs

Daily Summer Responsibilities:

  • Maintain logs, forms, and camper/staff files, primarily recording medication administration and treatment logs accurately in Shwayder Camp’s EMAR system
  • Answer Infirmary phone line
  • Review all medication administration and treatment logs at the end of the day
  • Call camper parents for campers that meet the criteria for a call home after consulting the Director or Assistant Director
  • Attend to any sick campers and staff
  • Strip, change beds, and clean rooms as needed
  • Restock and straighten examination and wellness rooms
  • Meals for inpatients: Assist in pick up, delivery, and clean-up of meals served.
  • Assist in the checking and scoring of all cabins for Cleanest Cabin Award before lunch, if interested, and if time permits
  • Update Camp Director daily of campers staying in Infirmary and campers visiting regularly
  • Coordinate all emergency hospital and urgent care visits
  • Communicate with Camp Director any time a camper parent is contacted

  • Directly responsible for the cleanliness and care of living space – includes pre and post camp inventory of cabin
  • Participate in staff orientation and any on-going staff development programs throughout the summer
  • Participate regularly and enthusiastically in all camp programs
  • Responsible for the health, safety, and happiness of all campers at all times
  • Adhere to goals, mission, and philosophy of Shwayder Camp of Temple Emanuel
  • One 24 hour day off per week; 6 day work week
  • Room and board provided
