DIRECTOR OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING 

Parent Possible equips parents with the tools and information to be their child’s most valuable teacher, trainer, and mentor in life. We promote and oversee the delivery of three proven parent engagement programs, providing access and support, ensuring efficacy and impact, and advocating and collaborating with early childhood partners across the state.

Parent Possible seeks a Director of Workforce Development and Training to provide guidance, coaching, and training to Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program sites across Colorado to strengthen and enhance the home visiting workforce. This position is responsible for providing the vision and guiding strategy for developing and executing a comprehensive and innovative workforce development program that aligns with and advances the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic and programmatic goals. Key duties and responsibilities:
Training Development, Oversight, and Delivery

  • Provide leadership and stewardship of Parent Possible’s internal and external workforce development activities
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the PAT and HIPPY program models, data collection protocols, and partner sites, including current issues and challenges facing individual sites
  • Work with the Parent Possible team to assess ongoing training and technical assistance needs and coordinate support, including statewide training events/conferences, management and supervision institutes, webinars, online learning, and other subject-based trainings as needed.
  • In coordination with the Training & Events Manager, establish a comprehensive workforce development plan, calendar, and process to measure the effectiveness of trainings
  • Remain current on home visiting best practices, teaching methods, and resources to vet and/or tailor existing professional development courses or create new trainings/courses
  • Provide start-up guidance and support for onboarding new PAT and HIPPY sites and supervisors
  • Provide home visitors and supervisors with relevant training and coaching related to program implementation and delivery, including required assessments (i.e., ASQ-3, BSRA-3, PICCOLO, EPDS) and skills (i.e., reflective supervision, maintaining healthy boundaries, mindfulness, trauma-informed care)
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between the Parent Possible team, program site partners, trainers, and consultants

Enhanced Home Visiting (EHV) Oversight and Management

  • Oversee Enhanced Home Visiting (EHV) activities with PAT and HIPPY sites, including onboarding of new sites, supervisor and home visitor reflective groups, training retreats, and small group meetings
  • Provide state-level guidance and coaching to HIPPY and PAT program sites in implementing EHV within their home visiting programs
  • Support program sites and consultants to ensure fidelity around implementation, data collection, and evaluation
  • Support and coordinate mental health consultation at the site level, including helping sites secure a Mental Health Consultant (MHC) and onboarding new MHCs
  • Coordinate the Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement process for interested site staff
  • Support the EHV evaluation process

Grants and Budget Compliance

  • Ensure achievement of stated grant objectives for training/EHV-related grants and contribute to grant reports as needed
  • Oversee/manage overall training/workforce development and conference budgets
  • Approve site-level EHV budgets and activities
  • Work with the Finance Director to administer site EHV budgets

Leadership

  • Provide outreach to potential program sites and area mental health centers
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to promote and grow professional development opportunities for home visitors and to expand the EHV initiative statewide
  • Lead service coordination among home visiting sites and mental health serving professionals to build strong referral systems and resource sharing
  • Build/strengthen strategic relationships and collaborate with key community partners such as the Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health (CoAIMH), Colorado Department of Human Services, Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Mental Health Colorado, Healthy Childcare Colorado
  • Participate in the Colorado Department of Early Childhood efforts to support and maintain the home visiting workforce
  • Train, support, supervise, and evaluate the work of the Training & Events Manager to achieve annual program goals, as well as provide guidance for professional development and community involvement.

Essential qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, social work, family studies, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in one or more of these areas: infant and early childhood, home visitation, family services, social work, mental health consultation, and/or reflective supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience executing successful professional development programs and knowledge of adult learning strategies
  • Experience creating and delivering trainings/workshops for varied audiences
  • Professional program or project management experience
  • Minimum two years experience supervising staff
  • Demonstrated understanding of infant and early childhood mental health consultation as building the mental health capacities of caregivers, families, and others who care for young children
  • Excellent people skills and comfort engaging people from different backgrounds and disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage audiences with a wide variety of educational backgrounds
  • Prior training and experience in reflective practice/consultation/supervision
  • Computer literacy and experience in Zoom and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to travel throughout Colorado, requiring occasional 1-2 nights of travel per trip
  • Articulated belief in the mission and programs of Parent Possible and the ability to quickly learn about the organization’s services and priorities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bilingual and bi-literate English/Spanish
  • Master’s degree in early childhood education, social work, family studies, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Experience/training in applied mindfulness strategies and trauma-informed care
  • Experience managing and growing a successful paid training or endorsement program or similar fee-for-service program
  • Engaged in regular reflective practice as part of their own professional development
  • Infant or Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement

Other position information:

  • Starting salary range is $65,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience
  • This is a salaried, full-time position with an excellent benefits package, including employer-paid health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and IRA with a 3% employer match from the date of hire. Parent Possible also offers paid time off and paid parental leave, summer hours with paid alternating Fridays off June-August, and a paid holiday office closure from December 24 to January 1.
  • Parent Possible is committed to professional development for all staff, including a dedicated professional development budget for each staff member and regular opportunities for training and coaching. It is anticipated that this role will receive monthly reflective supervision to support their work.
  • Parent Possible is a hybrid work environment, with staff working predominately remotely with 1-2 required days per month in the office for staff meetings, staff retreats, or other critical team-based work. All staff is awarded a remote work stipend on hire to support their home office setup. A permanent remote position may be considered for this role, but some in-person time in the Parent Possible office and at program sites will be required.
  • Occasional in-state travel will be required
