Little Blessings ECT Teacher Job Description:

The Little Blessings ECT Teacher is responsible for a learning environment that fosters the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool-age children, while developing partnerships with parents/caregivers to engage.  The ECT Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with all licensing and church guidelines provided by the Department of Human Services, Tri-County Health, and Parker United Methodist Church.  Little Blessings teachers will have an understanding of Safe Sanctuary practices and an attitude that exemplifies working as one within the Parker United Methodist Church.


  • Develops weekly lesson plans (in the classroom and outdoor playground activities) and monthly newsletters, and implement age-appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all children’s development in their care.
  • Perform ongoing developmental evaluations of children and communicate evaluation outcomes with parents informally as needed and formally three times a year.
  • Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily caregiving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the children’s background by incorporating cultural, linguistic, and familial values into the classroom.
  • Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records for the office and classroom, including attendance records.
  • Completes and records daily health or safety records and communicates necessary information to parents/caregivers.
  • Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Reports family changes in schedules and excessive absences to administration in a timely manner.
  • Participates in ongoing in-service and education to meet the center’s goals and objectives.
  • In accordance with our “team” philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed in this job description.


  • Must meet the minimum requirements for coursework and experience hours from the state for an Early Childhood Preschool classroom:
  • Section 7.702.54 Colorado Department of Human Services
  • Ability to meet state and federal requirements, including; background checks, immunization, and health requirements.
  • Current in CPR/First Aid and Standard Precautions or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, bend, squat, and sit on the floor with children.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and, in case of an emergency, a 40-pound child.
